Killer Instinct - Riptor 173 Hit Triple Ultra Combo Legit (1080p 60fps)
Some notes about this video below
This combo has been beaten by Dreamking23 https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-ts=1421914688&v=HgIQndtPjRU&x-yt-cl=84503534 so congratulations to him.
I downloaded the Riptor patch for KI just recently so I was worried that I would not be able to perform a world record combo. Although the patch came out 4 weeks ago I was lucky enough to figure it out. I used regular pad in this video just because I was already using it for practice attempts.
Some things about Riptor I want to note, and also if you want to beat my combo.
Riptor has some weird properties. She has very short hitting openers and linkers, it's really tough squeezing in many hits compared to the rest of the cast. The fact that she can use her normal attacks as linkers are also weird.
Now after watching a bunch of Riptor Ultra vids to see what other people have done I noticed some buggy stuff with the KV meter. First thing was the recapture after the first Ultra. You have 2 choices, you can do an air shadow tail if your KV is below 70ish~ since it's supposed to take off 30KV. With the right timing though you can do it for free as long as your KV is below 100. Which is dumb but it's get's dumber(er).
The other option is you can do a ground shadow tail for 2-3 hits depending on the timing. If you do 3 hits the combo drops if over 100 KV as intended. However, if you time it for 2 hit's then it will recapture no matter what the KV is at. This is why I chose this method, it allows me to squeeze in a wall spash ender before the Ultra.
Another bug is the fact that Riptor's light kick linker ignores the KV rule, you can do it as much as you want as long as you follow the combo flow chart. It will never drop the combo. This was first discovered by, as far as I know by StyloJuice. I don't know if he realized it could be abused though. I assume the game thinks this is an opener, even though it acts and even says "linker".
Now more buggy stuff, for some reason, you are able to do a linker after her kick shadow. You are not supposed to be able to do that, it should be an auto or manual that follows. What makes this useful is if you do a light kick linker the combo doesn't drop, so it's a useful way to squeeze those in for extra hits. I optimize the combo to do this for maximum hits.
Now if you want to beat this combo let me give some advice. First it doesn't need to be done on Glacius, it can be done with any character, but the smaller the character the harder it is. Specifically the juggles after the 1st and last Ultra.
For both of these juggles you can see me walk back slightly, this is on purpose. If you time the last juggle wrong the "grab shadow" where Riptor bites the opponent in the air you will only get 3 hits instead of 4.
I did 2 manuals at the start of this combo, use crouching hard punch as your manual because it has the best startup frames.
Don't bother attempting to manual the entire second part of this combo after the instinct cancel, I already did it and it only allows you to squeeze in one more hit, HOWEVER, it will end as a linker thus you cannot squeeze in a light kick linker. This means you will get the same amount of hits for 10x the difficulty.
One more thing, you can squeeze in a Ultra finisher on Sabrewulf for 1 more hit. It will beat my combo, so if you're up for it now you know. I'm not really a fan of character specific combos.
I hope whoever reads this realizes that a ton of thought goes into these combos and their not as simple as many people think. Thanks for watching.
